Leaders in Impact
Over 50 local agencies provide various basic needs, health care and education services. Your United Way does the research for you and selects the best agencies and programs to serve our greatest needs. Funding decisions are based on quantifiable results-based performance and on the impact that these agencies and programs have on community needs. Our volunteer board throughly reviews and monitors all grant recipients and their programs. Agencies that receive grants from United Way are better positioned in other grant requests as many grant makers consider United Way as a supplemental verification of the agency's good standing.

Why give to the United Way instead directly to local charities?
There are over 50 local agencies that provide various basic need, health care and education services - your United Way does the research for you selects the best agencies and programs to serve our greatest needs. Your United Way holds agencies accountable for the funds they receive. United Way of Eagle River Valley also offers donors the opportunity to designate a gift to a specific funded agency or program. Donors’ can take advantage of payroll deduction, which is the easiest way to give.
How much of my donation goes to help people?
Costs are controlled and minimized with no office costs and no full time employees. Donor revenues currently total ~$150,000 per year with expenses of ~$20,000 per year but 99¢ of each new dollar donated goes directly to support agencies and programs.
How is my money spent?
Your donation supports Healthy Living Programs, Youth Education Programs, and Programs that help families meet Basic Needs.
Is the United Way of Eagle River Valley part of United Way World Wide?
Yes. United Way of the Eagle River Valley is a local organization governed by local volunteers. United Way Worldwide serves as the legal manager of a federation of the 1,350 independent United Way offices. United Way Worldwide provides many services such as training , research information, discounted and branded merchandise, national advertising and proven strategies. For these services they are paid a membership fee of 1% of revenues.
