Register here for our nonprofit grant classes.

Are you getting ready to write a grant? United Way of Eagle River Valley is excited to announce a series of practical workshops for nonprofit staff, board members, and community partners. Designed with grantseekers in mind, each session focuses on a key element of strong funding proposals — from building effective partnerships to clearly communicating impact through metrics, storytelling, and financials.

Our goal is to equip participants with tools and insights that support their mission-driven work and help them approach grant applications with greater clarity and confidence.

Sessions are free and especially relevant for current or prospective UWERV grantees. All sessions take place from 5:30–7:00 PM. We are still finalizing locations and will send information out once they are confirmed. A light dinner (sandwiches/pizza) will be served.

  • June 12, CMC Campus, Edwards, Colorado – This session introduces practical, hands-on ways your nonprofit can use ChatGPT to save time and work smarter. We’ll cover real-life use cases like turning meeting notes into board minutes, crafting grant proposals, and improving day-to-day communications. Using the Letter of Interest as a central example, we’ll demonstrate how to use AI as a thought partner—one that enhances your ideas without replacing your voice. Whether you're brand new to AI or already experimenting, you’ll walk away with tools you can put to use right away.
  • July TBD – Strong Partnerships: Collaborations That CountEffective collaborations are structured relationships that drive real impact. This session explores what distinguishes performative partnerships from those that contribute to lasting change. Learn how to design collaborations rooted in shared purpose, equitable leadership, and clearly defined roles. We’ll look at examples of what works—and what doesn’t—so you can build partnerships that strengthen both organizations and amplify your collective mission.
  • August 14 – Show, Don’t Tell: Using Metrics to Make a Stronger Case - This session will help you clarify the difference between outputs and outcomes, understand the role of both qualitative and quantitative data, and use metrics to tell a compelling story. We’ll offer practical tips for gathering data with limited resources and show you how to present it clearly in reports, proposals, and communications.
  • September 4 – Telling Your Story by the Numbers: Preparing Nonprofit Financials for Grant Applications Your numbers tell a story—make sure it’s the right one. This session focuses on how to prepare and present key financial documents for grant applications, including budgets, income statements, and balance sheets. You’ll learn how to align your numbers with your narrative, address common red flags, and use simple tools to build funder confidence and tell a stronger story.

Participants will walk away with practical, relevant tools they can immediately apply to strengthen their programs, partnerships, and proposals.
