Your donations are making a difference!

United Way grants are supporting the youth in our valley. Here is an update on the progress of a new program that was funded by the United Way of Eagle River Valley this year.
The Vail Leadership Institute has developed The Exploring Potential Program for high school students to address the core values of respect, responsibility and excellence. Your donations to The United Way are helping them achieve their goals at The Red Canyon High School, here in Eagle County.

  • 120 students from Red Canyon are currently enrolled
  • 12 faculty members are being trained in the Inside First™ curriculum
  • 100 + family members will participate in the program this year
  • 3 volunteers are working with Red Canyon High School on program application
  • The United Way is assisting the Institute goal to reach program self-sustainability by fall, 2013
  • The United Way’s funding is assisting the Institute with the creation of a text book and  package for implementation in 2013-2014 school year
  • The Institute is gathering necessary student data for bettering intellectual capital and contributions to the curriculum
  • Helping to reverse the negative trend of the enormous 18.1% dropout rate at Red Canyon High School.
  • Helping to reverse the negative trend of falling proficiency ratings at Red Canyon High School.

"I really have felt the program has been a great addition to our school and has been an effective program for our students in influencing their behavior and choices."   -  Wade Hill, Principal Red Canyon High School

We will continue to update you on other successes from our many partner agencies, who are benefitting from your support of The United Way in Eagle County.
Thank you for your generosity!

Thank you from The United Way of Eagle River Valley

Thank you so much for your past support!

The United Way, has raised over $1,200,000, right here in Eagle County, during the past decade. These funds have been granted only to local non-profit agencies that directly support the needs of our community. Without the United Way grants, those agencies would be unable to provide some of the many valuable services to the people of our valley. Equally as important is the fact that a grant from the United Way, for many of our smaller non-profits, is critical to their success in receiving other national, state and federal grants.

With donations shrinking, both locally and nationally, it is vital for agencies to seek as many grant sources as possible in order to survive, and the United Way not only puts money directly into their programs but also enhances their additional grant opportunities.

The United Way Volunteer Board of Directors has a rigorous grant approval process that ensures the dollars raised are put toward the greatest community needs. All of the money raised in Eagle County stays in Eagle County. Go to our web site, listed below, to see our supported charities.

Please think of us again this year for your tax deductible contribution. Your generous donation is a powerful way to support those who support our community.

United Way Supports Eagle County Agencies
September 17, 2009

Dear Supporters and Friends:

United Way of Eagle River Valley has completed our annual grant cycle. We have awarded $75,000 to 25 local agencies. These non-profit organizations include:

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, Bravo, Bright Future Foundation, CASA of Continental Divide, Eagle Care Medical Clinic, Eagle County Adult Services, Eagle County Smiles, Eagle County Volunteer Center, Eagle River Youth Coalition, Family Learning Center, Gifted Education Team, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Gore Range Natural Science School, Literacy Project, Red Ribbon Project, Salvation Army, SOS, Swift Eagle, Think First of VVMC,Vail Leadership Institute, Vail Symposium, VVCF, Wild West Days,The Youth Foundation.

This has been a challenging year for fund raising and these agencies have had a difficult time balancing their budgets. The funds from the United Way will help them provide their much needed services. In addition, a grant from the United Way will enhance their ability in seeking additional national, state and federal grants.

So please remember that a donation to the United Way is a powerful way to support those who support our community.

Thank you,

Tracy Tutag, Board President
